  • Please Note: This list provides an example of emergent, urgent and non-elective cases we will see in the office and/or schedule for surgery during the COVID-19 outbreak:

* Cancer diagnoses

* Skin and soft tissue infections requiring drainage

* Incarcerated hernias (stuck out), or those causing significant pain or obstructive symptoms (acute abdominal or intestinal pain, bowel changes, vomiting or nausea)

* Intestinal bleeding or obstruction

* Appendicitis

* Cholecystitis (gallbladder infection or obstruction)

* Thrombosed hemorrhoids

* Postoperative patients with wound issues, drains or sutures to remove, or other time-sensitive issues

 

* Thyroid goiter (enlargement) causing obstructive symptoms (difficulty with swallowing or breathing)

* Urgent peritoneal dialysis access cases

* Urgent need for vascular access (mediports, central lines, or other catheters)

* Severe abdominal pain, undiagnosed

  • Please note: We are happy to schedule other general surgery appointments for after May 1st. Should the COVID-19 outbreak pass sooner we will make every effort reschedule your appointment for an earlier date.

  • Virginia Surgery Associates, PC (VSA) is dedicated to partnering with you during this uncertain time and we are here to help in any way possible. Effective March 23rd we will start seeing walk-in patients at VSA’s office located at 13135 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, Suite 305 Fairfax, VA 22033 between the hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday – Friday to ease the burden on emergency departments and urgent care locations. Please consider utilizing this walk in service if you are experiencing any of the following:

* Severe abdominal pain

* Skin and soft tissue infections requiring drainage

* Incarcerated or painful hernias

* Intestinal bleeding or obstruction

* Appendicitis (right lower quadrant pain)

* Gallbladder pain – (nausea and vomiting associated with right upper quadrant pain or abdominal pain radiating to your back)

* Thrombosed hemorrhoids

* Post-operative wound or drain issues

* Thyroid enlargement causing difficulty with swallowing or breathing

  • VSA’s office located at 1800 N. Beauregard Street, Suite 40 in Alexandria VA is now offering walk-in hours for urgent surgical issues as well. Walk-in hours for the Alexandria office are as follows:

Mondays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Tuesdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Wednesdays 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Thursdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

  • Please note we are screening all patients for fevers, cough, other upper respiratory symptoms and travel. If you have a fever and cough please do not come to the office. Please call your primary care physician to report your symptoms.
